EKOLOJİK TARIM HAKKINDAKİ GÖRÜŞLERİMİZ

“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”

Masanobu Fukuoka

Ecological agriculture is a type of agriculture that preserves the soil, water, and air where genetic engineering is not used and where the growing techniques is applied in harmony with nature.

In 2009, the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science, and Technology for Development (IAASTD), published a report. More than 400 scientists, stemming from all continents and a broad spectrum of disciplines, worked together for four years to gather the data. After about half of the report was written, biotechnology/GDO companies withdrew from the study because they realized that this report would not approve the genetical change in the products and the findings and remarks of the report would threaten the chemical industry's approach to agriculture.

“IAASTD report clearly suggests that ecological farming is the only way in order to feed the present day population.”

We, as being Eget Foundation's Board of Trustees take steps based on scientific data prioritizing the nature, humanity and the World. We respect to nature and never use any chemical additives that will harm to the soil, water and the air in our agronomic practices. We execute this within the scope of good and/or organic agricultural practices by either following the developments in this respect or developing new methods listening to the earth.

The first agricultural practice of Eget Vakfı(foundation) as you may read in detail at “EGET VAKFI COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE” page is the establishment of a truffle orchard. After regenerating the land of 22.000 square meters in the city of Muğla, we planted the truffle inoculated oak tillers that are bought from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Truffle Research and Application Center.

Afterwards, the lavander plant that is known as an assistive plant for truffle growing is transplanted to the soil between the oak tillers a year later. Thus, during the four year period, until truffles grow, lavander plants will be the second revenue generating plants. The lavander seeds that are bought by lavender oil producing companies and the lavander seedlings that are required by lavander growers can then be supplied by Eget Vakfı Commercıal Enterprıse.

Lavander honey though not prevalently produced in Turkey is very good for health with high nutritional value. The lavanders in our field  blooming the year after planting will have grown enough fort he bees to collect nectar. After being the first lavander field in the region, Eget Vakfı will also be the first lavander honey producer so that the profit gained from our commercial enterprise will go directly to the students as scholarship.
